SATURATED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

After preaching his sermon on the day of Pentecost in Acts chapter 2, Peter ends as follows: Acts 2:36 “Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ – this Jesus whom you crucified.”

THE REMARKABLE LINK BETWEEN FAITH AND WEAKNESS

The original article was written one month after the compulsory acquisition of our farm by the Zimbabwean government. We were given three months to move off the farm, so this was written one month into that time. I wrote this to help people understand the deep spiritual battle that one goes through at such a traumatic time. I trust that it will be an encouragement to you, whatever your personal battle might be.

WANNEER EK SWAK IS

WHEN I AM WEAK

Weakness is not hailed as the most popular, sought-after attribute, and weaklings are usually mocked or looked down upon. The ugly or puny ones are not normally used for advertising - which means that it is only a small minority who make it to the big screens. Most of us are really only mediocre - that is of course from the world's point of view. Paul, the apostle, writes often about his own weakness.

COMPETING WITH HORSES

This article was adapted from the original article which I wrote on 11 January 2004. It was at the beginning of the financial collapse of the Zimbabwean dollar, which followed the iniquitous farm invasions. The Reserve Banks’ policy statement on 12 December 2003 had caused interest rates of overdrafts to rise overnight to an astronomical figure of 600%. Many companies went bankrupt overnight, and my company and farm also faced imminent bankruptcy. It was only by the grace of God that we were saved from bankruptcy through a supernatural intervention by God and wisdom which He gave me.

BUT GOD

Psa 30:11 “Thou has turned for me my mourning into dancing: Thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness.” (KJV) How wonderfully God is able to turn things for us. The last article I wrote was also early on a Sunday morning, called “Another look at Habakkuk”. In it, I spoke of the terrible drought that we had been experiencing, and our need live by faith and to trust God to supply our needs despite the drought. Well, later that very day we received 15mm of rain from the good hand of the Lord. The next day we had 23mm, and the next we had 41mm. The last downpour had come so suddenly that the rain did not have time to soak in, and most of it ended as run-off, and in one day almost filled the dam I had built! Over the next two weeks, a cyclone hit us, and we had an average of about 25mm of rain per day. The dams filled to spilling, and the ground was thoroughly soaked.

DIS ALLES IN DIE Oë

As jou oog dan reg (enkelgesind) is, sal jou hele liggaam verlig wees. 6:23 “Maar as jou oog verkeerd is, sal jou hele liggaam donker wees.

IT'S ALL IN THE EYES

It was at the beginning of the financial collapse of the Zimbabwean dollar, which followed the iniquitous farm invasions. HOE KRY MENS JOU HUIS IN ORDE

HOW DO WE GET OUR HOUSE IN ORDER

In this article he discussed the events and timing of the much-prophesied end time conflict, and then he ended with the following admonition to his readers, “If there ever was a time to put our house in order, it is now!!!”

SOOS GOUD

LIKE GOLD

A few days ago, a friend shared the following Scripture with me to my encouragement: Job 23:8-10 “Behold I go forward but he is not there, and backward, but I cannot perceive Him; when He acts on the left, I cannot behold Him; He turns (hideth Himself - KJV) on the right, I cannot see Him. But He knows the way that I take; When He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold.”

CLIMBING OUT OF A DEEP HOLE

A few years ago, we were digging a well, and I decided to climb down to inspect the bottom. It was already about 12-14 metres deep, and the top third had spikes hammered into the side of the shaft to make climbing easy. For the rest of the way, footholds had been haphazardly cut out of the side walls. So down I went. I had already been quite tired after a long day’s work, and by the time I reached the bottom I felt quite exhausted. I had forgotten that I was not as young and agile as I used to be, and as I stood in the bottom of the deep dark hole, the climb back up suddenly looked formidable. I was alone - a silly mistake - and as the late afternoon light was fading quickly, I knew I had no time to spare - I had to climb out.

'N BOESMANLANDER SE DROOGTE STORIE

God is goed. God is altyd goed.

A BOESMANLANDERS'S STORY OF DROUGHT

God is good. God is always good. It doesn’t matter what happens, what the circumstances or era it is, His character is steadfast. What a comfort! What certainty! What a precious lesson the drought has taught us.

Towards the end of 2005, Johnnie’s marriage proposal was as follows: “Darling, there is a drought, and I don’t know how long it will continue, but ... will you marry me?”

And so our fairytale began – Johnnie, who knew and feared the drought and its consequences, and me, who thought that the Boesmanland only needed faith.
