As we study the sinister conflict which has taken place between the two cities of Jerusalem and Babylon (and their allies) over the millennia, we get the sense of an increasing magnitude in the scale of this conflict, currently raging in the heavenlies. What happens upon earth is a mere physical manifestation of the real battle which is constantly being fought in the spiritual realm.
If we are to see the victories described in the passages which we will be reading about, then we do not only need to have an understanding of what is going on in the heavenlies, but also to be actively involved in it. Our participation and personal victory over evil is of utmost importance for the victory of true faith to be won nationally and internationally. We are not just called to be silent spectators, watching a show.
The mere fact that much prophetic Word has been declared over both Jerusalem and Babylon, is no reason for us to just sit back in a fatalistic attitude of: “Whatever will be, will be.” (Que sera sera). There are repeated examples in the Scriptures where YHWH looks for those who will stand in the gap for their nation or situation. The fulfilment of the Prophetic Word is somehow intricately linked to the prayers of His people. We need to pray the Word into fulfilment, live a life of overcoming, and be active participants in winning the lost for the Kingdom of light. In a dark and rotting civilization, we must BE the light of the world, the salt of the earth.
